Job Description

About Us:
Edge Media DC provides video production services to businesses, non-profits, and government agencies within the DC, Maryland, and Virginia area. Our service categories include content creation, live & virtual event production, and tech staffing for venues and government agencies with an ongoing need for broadcast media support.

Our team is passionate about using visual storytelling techniques & media technologies to communicate messages that matter. We emphasize the competitive advantage of working with a media team that cares about the impact—not just the deliverable. This focus allows us to partner with brands and organizations whose mission and values align with our own.

Position Overview:

As a Camera Operator at Edge Media DC, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality visual content for live events, broadcasts, and productions. You will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining professional camera and video equipment to ensure clear, consistent, and visually engaging footage across a variety of environments.

This role requires both technical expertise and adaptability, with the ability to operate cameras in fast-paced live settings while maintaining professional composition, focus, exposure, and camera movement. You will collaborate closely with directors, producers, production teams, and clients to capture high-quality video that meets the creative and technical requirements of each production.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Set up, operate, and break down professional camera equipment for live events, church services, meetings, broadcasts, and productions, including cameras, tripods, lenses, monitors, and related accessories.
  • Conduct camera and equipment checks prior to events to ensure proper framing, focus, exposure, white balance, and overall image quality.
  • Operate cameras during live events and productions, maintaining professional composition, smooth camera movements, and consistent visual quality.
  • Monitor video feeds and make real-time adjustments to framing, focus, exposure, white balance, and camera settings as needed.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve camera, video, and signal issues quickly to minimize disruptions during live productions.
  • Collaborate with producers, directors, videographers, and event organizers to understand production requirements and deliver effective camera coverage.
  • Monitor video feeds for live streams and recordings to ensure broadcast-quality image and consistent camera performance.
Qualifications:
  • Proven experience as a Camera Operator, Videographer, Broadcast Camera Operator, or similar role, preferably in live events, broadcast, church, or production environments.
  • Strong knowledge of professional camera equipment, including cinema/broadcast cameras, lenses, tripods, monitors, wireless video systems, and video signal flow.
  • Familiarity with video production systems and software such as OBS, vMix, Blackmagic Design systems, Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or similar platforms is a plus.
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical issues under pressure in live production environments.
  • Understanding of camera composition, exposure, focus, frame rates, color balance, and basic principles of cinematography.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality video.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills when working with directors, producers, clients, and production crews.
  • Ability to follow direction and adjust camera shots quickly in fast-paced live production environments.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by event schedules.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in film, video production, broadcasting, communications, or a related field preferred.

How to Apply:
If you're passionate about live productions and thrive in a fast-paced, production-driven environment, we’d love to hear from you! Please submit your resume and a brief cover letter outlining your experience and why you’re a strong fit for this role.
